The ThynkRise Toolkit: AI and Money Tools Worth Your Time (2026)

This is the short list of AI tools for side income, plus the money apps to put that income to work. ThynkRise has covered dozens of AI tools and money apps, and most of them don’t make this page. The ones here earned a spot because they do one job well, they have a fair way to start (a free plan, a trial, or an open-source version), and there’s a full breakdown you can read before paying for anything.

  • 9 core picks from 50+ articles
  • Every AI pick has a free way to start
  • Updated September 2026

How we choose: official documentation, pricing pages and user reports (methodology). Links marked partner may earn us a commission at no cost to you. That never changes what gets recommended (disclosure). Prices come from our latest review of each tool, so check the vendor’s pricing page before you buy.

Three starter stacks

You don’t need ten subscriptions. Pick the stack closest to what you’re building and add tools only when one becomes the bottleneck.

The $0 stack

$0/month

  1. Perplexity (free) for research
  2. Make.com (free plan) for one or two automations
  3. OpenCode if you’re comfortable in a terminal

For testing whether an idea has legs before spending anything.

The creator stack

From about $49/month

  1. OutlierKit to pick topics that already outperform
  2. Perplexity Pro for deeper research per piece
  3. CustomGPT.ai once your content is worth turning into an assistant

For blogs, YouTube channels and newsletters that publish every week.

The investor stack

$0 to open, fees vary

  1. A high-yield savings account for the emergency fund
  2. A robo-advisor (US) or a low-cost broker (India)
  3. One structured course so you know what you’re buying

For putting side income to work instead of letting it sit.

7. Learn the skills

What didn’t make the list

Plenty of popular tools. We left out anything with no free plan or trial (you shouldn’t have to pay to find out a tool doesn’t fit), tools that mostly repackage a model you can already use directly, and anything we couldn’t verify from official documentation. If a tool you use isn’t here, that isn’t a verdict against it. We just haven’t covered it properly yet.

FAQ

What are the best free AI tools to start a side income?

Perplexity’s free tier for research and Make.com’s free plan for automation. If you code, add OpenCode. That covers research, automation and building without a subscription. See the $0 stack.

Do I need paid AI tools to make money online?

Not at the start. A paid plan makes sense once the free tier is the thing slowing you down, not before.

Make.com or n8n: which should a beginner use?

Make.com, unless you already run servers. It’s quicker to set up and the free plan is enough to learn on. Move to n8n if you hit the credit ceiling or need self-hosting.

Why are there affiliate links on this page?

A few tools pay us a commission if you sign up through our link, at no extra cost to you. Most tools on this page pay us nothing. The picks and the “skip it if” notes are the same either way.

How often is this page updated?

Whenever we publish or update a review that changes a recommendation. The date at the top shows the last change.
